Two stages are devoted to presentations explaining more about our new National Strategy and resources to help you in your ministry.

Thursday Presentations

We will have four 20-minute presentations expounding on our desired culture.
Located in Caribbean Ballroom I&II.

    This presentation will be on the services that Corporate Affairs and Risk Management offers to Field staff. We see this as an opportunity to come alongside you in advancing your ministries.
  • 5:00 – Staff Services FAQ: Navigating Navigator Systems (Haley Chafé and Theresa Clark)
    Join Staff Services for a crash course covering our most frequently asked questions and Navigator systems.
  • 5:30 – MPD: How to Permanently Cure your Contact Shortage (Dave Kassing, Ministry Partner Development)
    Come learn a new, proven way to solve your shortage of funding contacts. More than 100 staff put it to the test this past summer with marvelous results!

Joshua Borunda is the campus director at Texas State University with his wife, Caitlin.  Joshua has also served as a trainer for Cultural Development and is a member of the LaVida Network National Leadership Team of The Navigators.

About Jonathan

Jonathan Brooks (“Pastah J”) is senior pastor at Canaan Community Church in the West Englewood neighborhood in Chicago.  His ministry focuses on youth development, holistic health, college scholarships, art and music training as well as restorative justice practices and care for the incarcerated and their families. With a special ministry emphasis on long-term investment in a local community, he is the author of Church Forsaken: Practicing Presence in Neglected Neighborhoods (IVP). On Thursday afternoon he will be participating in a conversation with Al Engler on partnering, an essential value of The Navigators desired culture.

About Haley

Originally from Washington State, Haley began her role with Staff Services in July 2018 after serving several years on the mission field in Basque Country, Spain. She currently serves as the Staff Services team lead. In her free time, she is passionate about travel, soul care, and building community.

Theresa is a Colorado Springs native and has been with The Navigators almost 14 years in various roles. Married to her husband, Chuck, for almost 30 years, she has been blessed with three children and four precious grandchildren. She loves to go camping and to spend as much time outdoors as possible with her grandchildren.

About Al

Al Engler is the director for Navigators Disciplemakers for Life. Al has a passion to develop lifelong laborers in neighborhoods, communities, and natural affinity groups. Prior to (and overlapping) his Navigators ministry, Al served in several intelligence and logistics roles in the U.S. Military and the Army National Guard. He and his wife, Iris, have pioneered community-focused ministries in the United States and across Europe. Al is the author of A Vital Movement.

The Field Support Center (FSC) serves the Field by providing administrative support to you and your Mission through our five teams: Personnel, Finance, Events, Marketing and Communications, and Staff Services. About Connally

Connally Gilliam is the author of the new book (with Paula Rinehart), And Yet, Undaunted: Embraced by the Goodness of God in the Chaos of Life (NavPress). She speaks frequently to groups on issues related to sexuality, gender, race, and the unremitting goodness of God found in Jesus Christ. Connally lives in Charlottesville, Virginia. Connally will be presenting a brief talk Thursday afternoon on being grounded in the Scriptures, an essential value of The Navigators desired culture.

About Reggie

Reggie has been with The Navigators since April of this year, serving as insurance risk manager. He is also a licensed commercial insurance agent in property and casualty insurance and a retired Air Force officer.

About Dave

Dave leads the team that trains and coaches staff in ministry partner development. He met The Navigators in college and has been on staff 34 years, mostly with Development. He and his wife, Katie, have two adult daughters.

About Alice

Alice Matagora serves with Collegiate at UC Irvine, with the Leader Development Initiative Leadership Team, and was a trainer for Cultural Development.  Alice is also a licensed marriage and family therapist.

About Osaze

Osaze Murray is the campus director at Bowie State University (Maryland) with his wife, Hadiza. Osaze is the former director of The Navigators AFAM Network and a gospel rap recording artist under the stage name Oppose. On Thursday afternoon he will be participating in a conversation with author Steve Saccone about creative adaptation, an essential value in The Navigators desired culture.

Deborah Proctor is the associate Collegiate director for The Navigators and lives in Colorado Springs. Deborah is passionate about holistic staff development and creating team environments where everyone flourishes. She longs for the body of Christ to live in unity with one another and offer healthy teams to those they are ministering to.

Steve Saccone

Steve Saccone

5:00 - Creatively Adapting Without Compromise

About Steve

Steve Saccone is a pioneer in the field of unrestricted education and leadership development. For more than a decade, he has partnered with churches nationwide, as well as globally, to design and launch innovative internship programs to develop more effective leadership pipelines. In his current role with Southeastern University, he is charged with developing the next generation of ministry leaders through creative collaboration between the local church and the academic world. He is the author of several books, most recently (with his wife, Cheri) Talking About God: Honest Conversations About Spirituality. On Thursday afternoon Steve will be participating in a conversation with Osaze Murray about creative adaptation, an essential value of The Navigators desired culture.
